Epic Games has officially announced an important change to Fortnite’s virtual currency system: starting March 19, 2026, players will receive fewer V-Bucks for nearly the same price across several purchase packs.
This update directly affects Fortnite players worldwide, as well as services such as the Battle Pass and Fortnite Crew.
V-Bucks Packs Are Changing
Epic Games confirmed that several V-Bucks bundles will now offer reduced amounts.
Here are the updated packs:
- $8.99 → 800 V-Bucks (instead of 1,000)
- $22.99 → 2,400 V-Bucks (instead of 2,800)
- $36.99 → 4,500 V-Bucks (instead of 5,000)
- $89.99 → 12,500 V-Bucks (instead of 13,500)
The largest bundles are the most affected by the change.
In practical terms, players will pay almost the same amount but receive less in-game currency.
Why Is Epic Games Increasing Prices?
In its official statement, Epic Games explained the decision by pointing to rising operational costs:
« The cost of running Fortnite has gone up. »
According to the company, this includes:
- server infrastructure
- game maintenance
- continuous updates
- live events
- major collaborations
Although Fortnite remains one of the world’s most profitable games, Epic is adjusting its virtual economy accordingly.
Battle Pass: Lower Cost, Lower Return
The Battle Pass is also changing.
Previously:
- cost: 1,000 V-Bucks
- possible return: 1,500 V-Bucks
Now:
- cost: 800 V-Bucks
- return: 800 V-Bucks only
The entry price is lower, but the extra reward margin disappears.
Fortnite Crew Also Affected
The monthly Fortnite Crew subscription is also impacted:
- before: 1,000 V-Bucks per month
- now: 800 V-Bucks per month
This reduces the monthly value for subscribers.
Strong Community Reaction
Across social media, many players are already describing the change as a form of gaming shrinkflation — paying nearly the same while receiving less.
The announcement has triggered mixed reactions, especially since Fortnite continues to generate billions in annual revenue.
A Major Shift in Fortnite’s Economy
V-Bucks remain central to Fortnite’s economy:
- skins
- Battle Pass
- bundles
- limited-time content
- premium collaborations
Any change in V-Bucks value directly affects purchasing habits for millions of players.
